Just in case you need more information before you quote,
here's our list of frequently asked questions:

  • Q - Is it free to switch using Utility Exchange?
A - Utility Exchange will never invoice you for this service. We receive our funding on a commission basis which means that we are only paid once we have successfully set up your contract with your new supplier
  • Q - How long does the transfer take?
A - The whole transfer process normally takes 4 to 6 weeks but in some instances it can take upto 8 weeks. However if you are currently in a contract and have a particular start date
  • Q - Could I lose my energy supply?
A - The only time a supplier can cut you off is if you don’t pay your bill. If for any reason you are unable to switch (i.e. by you being in a current contract already), your current supplier will continue to supply you until something else has been arranged.
  • Q - What do I have to do to assist the transfer?
A - If you are in a contract with your current supplier, it is your responsibility to arrange the termination. We can assist you with this but unfortunately, cannot do it for you. However, if your new supplier requires any further information in order to help with the smooth transfer of your supply then we will contact you.
  • Q - When will I hear from the new supplier?
A - Once your chosen supplier receives your information they will issue an automatic welcome letter, however this does not mean that your contract has been accepted.
  • Q - Who do I give meter readings to?
A - Your new supplier may ask you for a meter reading or read the meter themselves. They will then share that reading with your current supplier so they can issue you with a final bill
  • Q - Is there a cooling off period?
A - Unfortunately with business energy contracts there is no cooling off period. This is to protect you from being rolled into out of contract prices with your current supplier.
  • Q - Is there a discount for direct debit payment?
A - Yes, most of the tariffs we offer include a direct debit discount.
  • Q - Is the contract a fixed price or fixed term?
A - All contracts that we offer are fixed price over the agreed contract timeline which can be 1, 2 or 3 years.
  • Q - How does the smart meter work and how do I get it fitted?
A - A smart meter uses GPS technology to send your meter readings directly to your supplier making your bills more accurate. If you have chosen a supplier who can offer you a smart meter, they will contact you once they have received your details to arrange installation.
